Ah, rewinding a moment to Friday afternoon, heading off to work in disastrous construction traffic, my little brain was playing a scene from “Frosty the Snowman”. The scene was where the girl says, “hey the hats back…” they put it on him and he says, “Happy Birthday!” Sprinkles of JOY! So, I decided there was enough time to stop off and pick up some goodies at a local box store.
In line, I saw a young miss working hard with her cart to refill the shelves and thanked her for all her hard work. She smiled and said, “it’s my job.” My retort: “Girl without you I wouldn’t have been able to pick up my chachkies!” She smiled with the giggle. We all know that one. Anyway…I’m up next for checking out and it was the manager. She told me thank you for acknowledging her hard worker and how it’s nice when I come in; I think she said a ray of sunshine.
Now, almost everything is scanned and in the bantering back and forth I let her know about Frosty the Snowman and my amusement, thus joy, and how I was eyeballing a balloon at the counter that says happy birthday…the consideration to buy one and take it into the second job to shower them with joy. We both laughed. I’m gathering up my bag, she hands me a balloon from behind the counter! “Go have some fun.” Hell yeah! All work and no jokes is a dull day. Needless to say, a nod of the hat to the manager! The sprinkles of joy were well received.
Much Love and Happy Birthday!
