Re-New and Re-viewed: Ikigai

“Oh my gosh, I did it.” That was the first thought upon re-viewing my Ikigai this morning. (Copy and paste Ikigai for a wealth of information.)
In the not so long ago past, I was asked to take a look at it again, but this time to “think outside the box”. Well, I shrugged off this inner dialogue as a when I get around to it moment. Then it, interviewer, happened, again the words, “you’re overqualified”. Needless to say I didn’t get that job or the other seven that I have applied too.
What is interesting about this is…did you know that since I was twenty-years old I have been told this a lot during interviews with only at the time a high school diploma? No you didn’t, I did and it was/has been discouraging. Now that I’m a graduate with an Associates, it can be overwhelming to my brain.
I like learning new things that seem exciting to me. I go in with the openness to learn whatever I want too, so sayeth the resume. Heck, I even down play my resume on those handy-dandy hire me sites, and still to no avail. Which…ARIGATO!…I know is a good thing.
I have a tendency to speak my mind and exercise my moral/ethical code of conduct. Basically, I don’t tolerate yelling bosses and the ilk that follows, nor do I go to an attorney.
In this wave of energy…restoration of harmonic balance through the frequency of Conscious Awareness is for me! And so, I narrowed down my “Essential” Ikigai and just going for it. No-thing is impossible and stepping out of my own bullsh*t has been a hell of a journey.
Might I suggest making a picture of a flower pot, or circle, on a piece of paper. Write in the center of it “In my Control” and outside of it “Not in my control” – breakdown your resume with how you got to where you are and then visit the Ikigai for the Essential YOU. Enjoy creating your Ikigai.
